Twitter is bringing its audio conversation feature Twitter Spaces to Android, while Clubhouse remains iOS only for the moment.
Remember Meerkat and Periscope? Yeah…
Clubhouse may be all the rage these days, the app could soon lose its edge as Twitter is rolling out its own version, Twitter Spaces, to Android. And that could be a game-changer in the social-audio realm.
Can Clubhouse, 10 million iOS downloads be enough to avoid another Meerkat-like storyline? Yes, remember Meerkat, one of the pioneers of live video streaming which disappeared once Twitter acquired Periscope, and more significantly when Facebook took an interest in live streaming.
Twitter announced the rollout to Android on the Twitter Spaces account this Tuesday. Android users can now join and participate in Spaces, but they will not yet be able to create them. Something that should be fixed really soon according to Twitter.
Android folks, our beta is growing! starting today you will be able to join and talk in any Space. SOON you’ll be able to create your own but we’re still working out some things. keep your 👀 out for live Spaces above your home tl
