Back in August 2019, Twitter DM search bar feature that brought the ability to search for recent direct messages on iOS and the web.

Later that year, the feature was made available to all users on iOS. Now, almost two years after the first test, Twitter’s Android app is finally getting its own DM search bar as well.

The new DM search bar has been improved and now lets you search for all old conversations – not just recent ones. Also, later this year, another upgrade will bring the ability to search for specific words within DM conversations; previously, you’ve only been able to search for the people you had conversations with.

This is all great news for users, as it makes Twitter’s messaging feature a lot more useful. Conducting long conversations in DMs and not being able to search through them has been a bit of a problem, for sure.

Almost two years after rolling out a DM search bar on iOS, Twitter has announced it’s bringing the feature to Android as well.

While we’ve always been able to use Twitter’s advanced search, it feels better knowing that you can more easily track important conversations where they happen – on mobile.
