The Simpsons Predicted Richard Branson

British billionaire Richard Branson successfully traveled to the edge of space and back on Sunday

In its three decades of existence, “The Simpsons” has repeatedly predicted the future. The 32nd season of The Simpsons predicted Richard Branson’s space flight.

British billionaire Richard Branson on Sunday made a successful trip to the edge of space and back aboard his Virgin Galactic rocketplane, winning the race to become the first person to cross the final frontier in a ship built by his own company. Earlier this month, the billionaire unexpectedly announced that he would fly into space — but it seems this moment was predicted on the show “The Simpsons” seven years ago.

A scene from Fox’s long-running show bears a striking resemblance to images of Mr. Branson hovering inside his rocket, which were released Sunday. According to the New York Post, the scene appeared in an episode of the 25th season of “War on Art,” and it shows an animated Mr. Branson hovering aboard a spaceship.

The scene went viral on social media, and many were stunned by the uncanny resemblance between real life and life on screen. “How can the ‘Simpsons’ show predict every single thing?” – one puzzled Twitter user asked.

“Richard Branson in 2014 on ‘The Simpsons’ and Richard in space yesterday,” one Twitter user noted, sharing a photo of the billionaire in a rocket and another photo of his similarities in the show.

Richard Branson’s Virgin Atlantic also noted the coincidence. “The Simpsons predicted it,” they wrote on Twitter, adding an emoji in the form of clapping palms.

In the past, “The Simpsons” has been credited with predicting a Donald Trump presidency and a brief infestation of killer hornets, among other things.
