For many years now, French agency, Romance, has been putting supermarket chain, Intermarché, at the centre of stories with so much heart they make you cry. This new one, A Place to Live, is its most ambitious production and perhaps its most heartwarming story. (This last assertion is a big call. The film’s predecessors are wonderful.)
It is set in a small village in the south of France where a young teacher was assigned for his first job. The gig is over and it’s time to say goodbye. All the children and parents of the students come together to prepare a farewell dinner for him before his departure for Paris.
The recipe that made Romance’s series of films for Intemrarché a success remains unchanged: a French song, as many seasonal vegetables as emotions, and a beautiful story that wraps itself around hearts, this time directed by Grand Bazar’s Katia Lewkowicz.
