Hello Sunshine’s Haroula Rose & Baileys: Irresistibly, irrepressibly rom-com people connectors

We’ve come a long way, baby.” And now it’s absolutely AOK for we women to admit that we love rom-coms. Baileys turned that knowledge into a series of three adorable short films, made with teammate, Bumble, by production company, Hello Sunshine.

The idea behind the films (apart from bonding Baileys to love and Bumble to finding it) is to position Baileys as the drink that brings people together.

Just as Hello Sunshine is highlighting a new era of rom-coms meant to be enjoyed with loved ones, Baileys is no stranger to bringing people together while encouraging the unapologetic pursuit of little moments of indulgence, which now can include snuggling up on the couch with some Baileys and a Meet Cute short film,” the production company explained.

The film, Hound of Love, was written and directed by Haroula Rose. Her first foray into branded content sparkles. It is told through the eyes of Sonya, the dog adopted by unlucky in love Sam, played by Jess Weixler [Teeth, The Good Wife, Listen Up Philip]. Sonya takes it upon herself to cull Sam’s bad date choices until she finds Bill. Sam’s humorous narration is voiced by Kate Micucci [Garfunkel & Oates, The Little Hours & Scooby Doo.]

Haroula directed the highly awarded feature film Once Upon A River and Lost and Found, a series pilot featuring Melonie Diaz, Terence Nance, and Wil Janowitz, which had its world premiere at Tribeca.

She has also and several short films, such as Wedding Dress, No Love Song, Baby Crazy and As They Slept, which premiered on Nowness in 2020 and stars Maya Hawke, Rachel Hilson and Fred Hechinger. Her recent three music videos for Rodney Crowell were featured on Rolling Stone.

The Meet Cute series can be viewed on the Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine YouTube Channel, and will live in a branded content hub on The Roku Channel across the US.

The second film, First Date, is by filmmaker, Carly Usdin. After matching on Bumble but never getting a chance to meet in person, Jennifer and Anna unexpectedly reconnect and text flirtatiously for six weeks before Anna convinces Jennifer to an epic first date – flying across the country to attend a wedding as Anna’s guest.

The third, The Sign, is by Sadé Clacken Joseph. It follows Clare, a pragmatic divorce attorney who, after going through a divorce of her own, ends up finding her true match with a little help from fate.

“We are thrilled to support these incredibly talented emerging filmmakers,” stated Zoe Fairbourn, head of brand partnerships at Hello Sunshine. “Hello Sunshine is excited to usher in a new era of modern Rom- Coms and are so grateful to Baileys and Bumble for their partnership in bringing this smart, fun series to life, and for their continued support in our mission of telling stories that put women at the centre.”

“Throughout the years, Baileys has always been at the centre of celebrations with loved ones, bringing people together during those moments when we deserve to treat ourselves,” added Stacey Cunningham, director of Baileys & Liqueurs, Diageo North America. “Between the brilliant filmmakers and compelling stories around modern day love, the short films we’ve created in partnership with Hello Sunshine are a true reflection of those moments worth celebrating.”
