I’m not sure what is more wonderful about this campaign, its operatic acrobatic hyperbole, the fact that all of that is for a potato producer, or that there’s a publication called Potato News Today, which is one of the places in which its story has been published.
In the quest to achieve distinctive advertising, creative agency, Guy & Co, seems to have come very close to perfection for British potato producer, Albert Bartlett. The campaign called Make It Extraordinary certainly lives up to its title. Potatoes are important in the UK. Albert Bartlett’s potato products are purchased by 1 in 5 of all households across the UK.
The commercial, which was directed by Nalle Sjöblad and produced by Infinite, features acrobats from Canada’s Flip Fabrique circus group and a potato-themed musical re-composition of Verdi’s Libiamo, ne’ lieti calici from La Traviata, arranged by composer, Debbie Wiseman OBE. The spot’s miniature sets were designed by Derek Bell – no prize for guessing that he is a model-maker for filmmaker, Wes Anderson.
The commercial was shot under Covid-19-safe conditions over an eight-week period in the UK and required the use of three full-size Olympic trampolines.
The 40-second TVC which went live across the UK during Coronation Street on November 19 and will be supported in cinema, digital and social media.
