Honest To God’ by Fatherson – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆

With their latest track, ‘Honest To God’, Fatherson, the rapidly rising Glaswegian alt-rock band, provide the winter warmth. The new single comes from the band’s upcoming album, ‘Normal Fears,’ which will be out on February 25th, 2022.

‘Honest To God’ is enthralling right from the start! Furthermore, lead vocalist Ross Leighton emerges from the shadows, displaying a vocal performance that rivals some of the world’s best singers right now. So much so that his quality will leave many questioning why they aren’t more well-known than they are now; we’re wondering the same thing!

Amicable Vibes

For the entirety, the music is melancholy, with a palliative piano lead propelling the overture ahead. The tones emanating from the keys blend in perfectly with Leighton’s voice timbre. They both have an unforgivably contagious flavour that transports us to a place where there are only amicable vibes.

The storey becomes more profound as the music progresses. Furthermore, Ross is open and honest about life, examining what is missing and focusing on the present. He takes us on a voyage through the seasons, frequently referring to different times of the year, but if you dig deep enough, you can probably find parallels between the seasons he discusses and the seasons of life. His words are influential, and many will relate to his thought-provoking poetry.
